MARIKA (born 14.12.1980) is a Lady MC, vocalist, songwriter whose career is developed at the same time in different music styles: from reggae & dancehall to nu-jazz and funk. She acted in The Music Theatre of Gdansk in a hip-hop theatrical project called "12 Benches". Moreover she has performed as a supporting artist for such stars as: Macy Gray, Gentleman, Panjabi Hit Squad, performed also at the Top Trends 2006 Festival TRENDS 2006 in Sopot. MARIKA’s mother formation is Bass Medium Sound System. In between 2002-2005 the squad was called Bass Medium Trinity and was represented by 3 members: MARIKA, Frenchman and Abselektor. Album 'Mowisz i Masz' , including 13 tunes focused on traditional jamican riddims was the result of BMT’s activity. It's become a very hot stuff and has been sold out in a double issue. BM has been touring Poland and Europe, performing alongside stars such as: Gentelman, David Rodigan, Luciano, WWO, Abradab, Gutek, Mad Crew and top Polish sound systems. MARIKA's gigs are incredible events called plenty of people to the clubs.When she takes over the microphone all the clubs turn into "Jamaican Embessies". Her style is a fusion of dancehall, funk, nu-jazz, nu-soul and reggae.
