A.k.a. María Luz Montero Graña
María Luz Montero Graña (8/25/1939) was married and had three sons (7, 6 and 4 years old) when she made the 1967 album "Mis Lagrimas" for IEMPSA. Before coming to Lima, she lived in Pisco, on a farm run by her husband, the agronomist Arturo Gamboa Masías. The singer is the daughter of Carlos Montero Bernales (founder together with the Graña brothers of the largest construction company in Peru at the time) and of Mrs. Victoria Graña Elizalde. María Luz contracted poliomyelitis at 6 months but survived and was able to recover. When she was 10 years old, she was treated for problems walking in Warm Springs (Georgia, USA), having to use supports until she was 12 years old. At one time she was president of the Peruvian Polio Society. Marilú started singing in the "Carrousel Musical" program, having received lessons from Bianca Hauser (singing) and Alfonso Jiménez (guitar). Following a divorce in 1971, Marilú married Ernesto de Losada Marrou who managed a travel agency.
