Engineer - producer - electronic artist - label owner - Sample Replay Producer He owns Scorccio Sample Replays and record label. London, 1992; Mark Summers worked as a sound engineer in the studios of Air/Chrysalis Music, owned by The Beatles producer Sir George Martin. He also DJ'd in various clubs in London, and soon achieved his first UK national chart hit with "Summers Magic", on Island Records. Mark then went on to work with Malcolm McLaren, Jocelyn Brown, Aphex Twin, Joey Negro, Mica Paris and Kylie Minogue, amongst many others. Inspired by 70's disco, 80's Hip Hop and 90's House, Mark had success in 1996 with the disco rapped "Inferno", under his pseudonym of Souvlaki. "Inferno" was the first release on Mark's own label Scorccio Records, and reached top 20 in the UK national chart. It also appeared on the 1.5 million selling Ministry Of Sound "Annual 2" album mixed by Boy George, and went on to become a worldwide hit. The name "Scorccio" (pronounced "Scor-chi-o") was derived from the popular BBC TV comedy "The Fast Show". A catch phrase meaning "scorching" or "very hot" which also described the "fired up" disco sound Mark was releasing on his label. Mark's mixing skills pushed JT Playaz up to the UK number 1 dance chart with "Just Playin", soon followed by "Let's Get Down Tonight". Since 1996, Mark has been well-regarded by major / independent music labels and world-wide DJ-Producers for his work in providing replayed samples. Clients include Ministry of Sound, Defected, Universal, Sony-BMG, The Prodigy, Bob Sinclar, Fatboy Slim... and many more. 2004 - The Shapeshifters got to number 1 on the UK national chart with "Lola's Theme" - with the main sample replayed by Mark. This was followed by Michael Gray's global hit "The Weekend", which featured a Scorccio replay production. 2009 - Scorccio replayed "Street Player" (originally by Chicago) for the U.S. Billboard #2 hit "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)" by Pitbull. Another successful sample recreation in September 2010 was produced by Summers for the U.S. Hot Dance 100 #1 artist Duck Sauce, with "Barbra Streisand" featuring a Scorccio sample replay of the 1979 Boney M song "Gotta Go Home". The song reached #1 in dance charts world-wide. 2013 - DJ Hardwell became the latest Scorccio client, along with Riva Starr, Tommy Trash, Pitbull featuring TJR, and the Last Night A DJ Saved My Life Foundation. There have been over 800 Scorccio sample replays produced by Mark Summers to date (April 2014).
