Album US 1980 on Kicking Mule Records label
Folk (Folk)
This album was recorded over a five month period beginning in the fall of 1979. I am grateful to all the people who have passed these tunes on to me so I could pass them on to you. Special thanks to Dominique Deschamps for Bourrée and to Peter Tommerup for teaching me West Fork Girls and Rock the Cradle, Joe. Thanks also to Andy Simon (a paragon of patience), and to Ed Denson for what it takes to get this into your hands, and to Annie Dempsey. Bryan Mumford made the hummel, or Swedish dulcimer. It is tuned DD AA D'D' DA D'D. The dulcimer comes from the hand of Larry McSpadden of Mountain View, Arkansas. I rescued the Hungarian dulcimer from a wall in Kansas City. It has fifteen strings tuned in thirds and fifths and a fully chromatic finger board. All tunes P.D. except where noted, arranged by Mark Nelson, Kicking Mule Music, Inc. (West Fork Girls and Rock the Cradle, Joe arranged for the dulcimer by Peter Tommerup) This album is dedicated to Liberty.
