Trip-Hop group from New York. The band was formed by Peggy Jameson (vocals), Adam King (keyboards), DJ Jimmy Connelly (instrumentation) and Phil Painson (sound engineer). Their seeds were planted in 1993 when singer & film student Peg Jameson met Phil Painson at a rooftop party. Jameson's sultry, soul-bearing vocals meshed nicely with her bandmates’ slow churning rhythms. They pieced together a five-song EP on their own and, through a friend, gave a copy of the demo to a writer at CMJ. A glowing review quickly led to big-label interest. Their recording debut signaled a development in the realm of electronic dance music, but also represented a return to the original values of East Coast hip-hop.
