Markus Sandlund (born April 26, 1975, Norrfjärden, Sweden – died December 26, 2004, Khao Lak, Thailand) was a Swedish cellist. He started playing the cello when he was 6 years old and studied at the Royal University of Music in Stockholm. He worked with several orchestras in Sweden and played on many studio recordings. He was a member of The Tanarco piano trio that often worked with Swedish composers. He also played with the legendary Ray Charles when he toured Sweden and on Brian Wilson's "Smile" album (which was the eventual release of The Beach Boys aborted album of the same title in 1967) and toured with his band. After the "Smile" tour in Australia and New Zealand in December Markus travelled to Khao Lak in Thailand where he died in the tsunami disaster on the morning of December 26, 2004.
