Prof. Dr. Martin Kirnbauer (born in 1963 in Cologne) was after training as a woodwind instrument maker and music studies at the Meistersinger Conservatory Nuremberg restorer for historic musical instruments in the Germanisches Nationalmuseum in Nuremberg; Since May 2004 Director of the Museum of Music in Basel and Curator of the Collection of Ancient Musical Instruments of the Historical Museum Basel.
