Martin van Dijk (Emmen, October 17, 1946 - Amsterdam, June 5, 2016) was a Dutch pianist and composer. After a long musical career, which led him among other things to the Harry Muskee Band, Van Dijk started performing in theatres with acts like Purper, Jenny Arean and Adèle Bloemendaal before he became the accompanist of Hans Dorrestijn. Together they made the programs Cirkels (2000), Het Naakte Bestaan (2005) and Ruïnes (2007). Van Dijk was awarded in 1992 with Annie M. G. Schmidt Award for best theatrical song of the year ("Iemand Moet Het Doen", sung by Jenny Arean) and 1996 ("Halleluja Amen", sung by Lucretia Van Der Vloot and Jenny Arrean). In 2010 he was received a Royal decoration (Ridder in de Orde van Oranje-Nassau). Van Dijk was diagnosed with cancer in March 2016 and died of the disease in June of the same year.
