Producer of Dance
A.k.a. Marvin Cain Badman Co-Cain Da Fugitive
DJ & producer, UK. Marvellous Cain had a series of big tunes during jungle’s ragga heyday in1993-94, including “The Hitman” and “Dub Plate Style.” Before signing to Suburban Base in 1995, Cain released tracks on label mate Sponge’s I.Q. imprint, collaborating with Sponge and current Ganja Kru member Pascal. During the early to mid 90's, Marv also ran Sight Sound Motion Records at Church Square in Basingstoke, Hants with his good friend Byron Lewis. A DJ as well as producer Cain began typically enough, spinning rave and hardcore in the late ’80s and following the style into full-blown jungle by the middle of the decade. He established his own label, Runninz out of the ashes of I.Q., and has released tracks under a barrage of names, including Lion Man, Badman, Runninz Kru, CoCain and Gunman. Cain’s sample-heavy style got him into a bit of trouble with his first hit, “Hitman” which sampled a large section of a Cutty Ranks record; Cain agreed to a few remixes for Cutty. Cain released Gun Talk, a full-length collection of his most well known tracks (as well as a few new ones) on Sub Base in 1996. He has since focused on Runninz Releases cutting his Sub Base output to three singles a year and continues to DJ at an international level. He has since rebranded the two labels into one unstoppable force of nature for new skool Junglist's and gave it the new name of RIQ YARDROCK RECORDS. This label has turned out good sessions of releases from new workings of old classics like "The HitMan holding chart positions on Radio 1 and Radio 1Xtra as well as Dub Plate Style Remix , War In 94 Remix, Rocky Remix, Nice Tune Remix, Wheel Up Remix & Everyday Junglist Rework" to new upfront Jungle featuring various reggae legends such as "Bitty McLean, Johnny Osbourne, Morgan Heritage, Freddie McGregor & Cutty Ranks". This label hosts an array of old and new producers giving it a wide eclectic sound with works from "Bladerunner, Nicky Blackmarket, Serial Killaz, Aries Dub & Rude Bwoy Monty" alongside the new future producers. The label was recently requested to represent their genre Jungle Drum&Bass by BEATPORT for their 10 year anniversary beatportdecides album celebration and it received a staff feature for top 10 albums. Cain is back in the studio working on some new tracks as well as collabs and has fired out a good succession of Riddim tracks, remixes and original works. He has teamed up with some of the finest and most influential producers including Serial Killaz, Dope Ammo, Ragga Twins, Aries Dub, Jungle Alliance, BrukOut Records and Rude Bwoy Monty for his label and other labels. Marvellous has since worked his magic with fellow producer Dope Ammo not just on new tunes but on a sample pack commissioned by LOOPMASTERS, filled with new skool jungle sounds & breaks just the thing you'd expect from the Cain.. Over the last two years, Gigante MC and Marvellous Cain have joined forces to become YARDROCK SOUND - a reggae jungle extravaganza embracing the style of the reggae sound system into a jungle dancehall collective. Yardrock Sound works in such a way that the energy in any party is set to go through the roof. One thing we can clearly say is that Cain has not lost any of his appeal that he had back in the heyday of jungle. The style of music and entertainment that the pair bring has been set at a higher standard. They have performed their showcase which includes a PA featuring Cain and Gigante plus the vocal talent of Lady Amiah alongside dancehall veteran Virgo Don at a succession of events and festivals Ie: Boomtown Festival 2014, The Big Noise Festival 2014, Outlook Festival 2013, Edinburgh Festival 2013, Jungle Jams, Sub Dub, Junglist Movement, Junglist Network, Tokyo Dub Festival, along with International tours and radio shows such as Koollondon, OriginUK and Ruff Tempo. To hear one of Mr Cain & Gigantes sets is just the thing to keep jungle drum & bass in your heart. One Love One Yardrock!!
