Singer of R&B/Soul
US soul singer and songwriter who released two singles on Bobby Robinson labels. Her first release 'Something For You, Baby' came out on both Fling and Fury records in 1962. Her second, and last, release 'Ain't Nobody's Business' came out on Robinson's Enjoy Records in 1964. Little is known about Mary Banks, who may have been from the San Francisco Bay area. She recorded with Robinson in New York City, NY. Bobby Robinson states that Mary B was a very talented singer and writer who lived in Newark, New Jersey. She was also very attractive and had a boyfriend who was quite jealous and protective. He wouldn't let her go to rehearsals or to the recording studio without him. This really held her career back. He claims he would have recorded her a lot more if he could have scheduled it.
