(* 7. September 1934 in Frankfurt am Main) is a German artist. From the early 1960s she initiated and hosted a large number of performances in and around her studio in Köln with, among others, John Cage, Christo, George Brecht und Nam June Paik, these activities later became noted as the onset of the Fluxus movement and had a large influence on contemporary cultural developements. She was married to and worked with Karlheinz Stockhausen, with whom she has 2 children, one also a musician, Simon Stockhausen. She also has a daughter with electronic music pioneer David Johnson. After being part of the New York avantgarde she returned to Germany in the 70s, where she continued to host manifold 'open house' style workshops, thereby inviting and exploring exchange between many different cultural movements.
