Album IT on Concert Hall label
Jazz (Ragtime, Bop, Latin Jazz, Swing)
This recording was made especially for the Jazztone Society in 1955. It is an anthology of her career. Starting with the days when she played ragtime tunes and blues that her mother taught her. From there to the boogie woogie and swing phases and on to Carnegie Hall and her well-know Zodiac Suite ("Taurus" was one of the movements of that work). The remaining selections on this record reflect the modern influences in Mary Lou's work. Mary Lou Williams played nearly every style, though Kansas City swing, stride and others are not options to list on discogs.com. CHJ-1007 on labels, J-1007 on cover. Liner notes (Italian) uncredited.
