Mary Shay was born in Simcoe, Canada in 1958. Her full name is Mary Colleen Shay, with Colleen being her middle name, although she was often incorrectly referred to in the media as Mary Shay Collen. She became a vocalist in well-respected Italian group Passengers (2) in 1980, replacing Kathleen Flynn, and remained a member until 1991 when they disbanded.
