R&B/Soul and Jazz
After Fela's death in 1997, Franck Biyong decided to return to France and pursue the musical struggle of the Black President in his own way. He formed the band Massak and launched the Afrolectric Music label. Massak released numerous crossover Afrobeat flavored tracks as singles, including their 2002 underground "hit" B.L.A (Soul Fire Records, NYC). Distributed by some of the most influential independent labels, these recordings helped them to gain international attention. Massak disbanded shortly after the release of the "Visions of Kamerun" album in 2010. Franck Biyong now operates with a brand new band called the Diamane Bantu Messengers.
