A.k.a. Olivier Tison & Sio B'baas
Putting the imagination of Sio B’Baas together with the musical knowledge and skills of Olivier Tison, the Masse/Mémoire project is an adventure in undiscovered sonic and rhythmic territories, melting across-the-board musical influences together. Known for his eclectic tastes, Olivier Tison has a broad musical vision, embracing anything “soul-phurous” such as deep house, funk, jazz and electronica, as well as contemporary/classic music. Trained as classical musician since the age of five, Olivier has a degree of a French National School of Music. As a student in the early nineties, he discovers the underground music scene in Paris and plays in various parties. While living in London from 2000 til 2003, he is resident DJ and promoter for the weekly One World Live night in London, in partnership with BBC Radio One. As a producer, under the “Oli & Ola” moniker, he’s responsible for the dancefloor bomb “Just a little bit of jazz” as playlisted by Doc Martin, D’Julz; Felix Da Housecat, Jay Hannan, Basement Jaxx… Sio B'Baas, like Olivier, has a strong undercurrent of funk running in his blood. Nevertheless, after years of deejaying on a minimal techno tip, he develops a deep interest in ambient and grown-up electronic music, from the likes of Steve Roach, Robert Rich, Vir Unis... Fostering his bursting imagination with a mad fondness of astronomy and sci-fi books, he creates the core component of the Masse/Memoire sound by inventing exciting storyboards that set up the scene for music composition. With an exacerbate sense of detail, Sio is always a hard challenger in the production process, picturing new sounds and putting them in context. The result is worth the challenge, sealing the Masse/Memoire sound.
