Massimo Cacciari

*1944 IT

Born in Venice in 1944, Massimo Cacciari is an italian philosopher and professor of aesthetics. Also active in politics, he was member of the italian parliament from 1976 to 1983 and mayor of Venice from 1995 to 2000 (then re-elected in 2005). His connection with music lays mainly in his long-time friendship with the composer Luigi Nono (he also had a relationship with Nono's younger daughter Serena Bastiana), for whom he compiled a variety of texts (from ancient Greece to contemporaries) for works like "Das Atmende Klarsein", "Guai Ai Gelidi Mostri" and particularly the opera "Prometeo".
