Massimo Mattioli

*1943 IT

Born in Rome 25 Sept.1943. Italian cartoonist debuted in the periodical comic Il Vittorioso with Il Vermetto Sigh in 1965, also published on Corto Maltese n' Frigidaire. In 1968 he's in London for Mayfair and in Paris for Pif (The Adventures of M Le Magicien), collaborating also to Plexus. In the early '70s he created Pasquino for a newspaper, in 1973 Pinky for Il Giornalino. In 1977 he opened the underground magazine Il Cannibale with Stefano Tamburini, publishing the adventures of Joe Galaxy and in 1980 the series Squeak Mouse. Among his many comics he created Frisk The Frog inspiring Maurizio Marsico for Rap 'N' Roll, released by Jumbo Records of Claudio Casalini (1983). Mattioli in his career he also worked for Artefact, L'Echo des Savanes, Lupo Alberto Magazine, Men's Vogue, Vanity Fair. Mattioli has been recognized with many awards, including the French Phenix Award in 1971, the Yellow Kid in 1975 and Romics Gold in 2009.
