1½ Volt Music

Album UK 2001 on Hot Air label
Electronic (Abstract, Minimal, Experimental, Chiptune)

1½ Volt Music is a 'Vexations'-type infinite symphony for 12 self-propelled pocket game machines. Composition was roughly based on the game Tetris, whereby as a gap appeared the music was adapted to fill it. This CD comprises 9 sections taken sequentially from live recordings made during the day of the first fully battery-operated performance at The Holden Gallery, Manchester, May 2nd 2001. Thanks to Oliver Wittchow, who programmed and supplied the software cartridges on which the music was composed. Thanks also to: Pavel Büchler, Paulette Brien, Laurence Lane, Marc Richter, Cash Converters (Stockport & Paris), Game Trader (Tokyo) and Mr Cheapo Cheapo Speakers (Strangeways). Headphone listening is recommended.
