A.k.a. Matt Sever
Matt Sever aka Matt the Electrician is an Austin, TX based singer-songwriter known for his sweet and catchy originals and unique covers. He earned the moniker when going directly to gigs from his day job, as an electrician simply stating, “Hi, my name is Matt and I’m an electrician,” in an attempt to explain the sweat and grime from working in Austin’s summer heat. People began to refer to him as ‘the electrician’ and the name stuck. He worked both the day job and the musician gig for several years before devoting himself to music full time around 2004. Since his first album in 1998, Sever has released eight studio albums and two live recordings. His music loosely fits in the folk genre though he is as likely to cover Paul Simon as he is the Misfits and is known for his original takes on ABBA’s Dancing Queen and Rick Springfield’s Jesse’s Girl, the latter he recorded on his third album, Made for Working. Sever tours regularly and has developed fan bases in Japan and Europe.
