Guitarist, bassist, and producer based in New York City. Owns and operates the analog NY Hed Studios. Member of Madder Rose, Speedball Baby, and Heavy Trash. Born 1963 in Cairo, Egypt, he began playing guitar in 1974. In 1985 he moved to New York City. Matt has produced and recorded indie rock bands such as Subsonics, 20 Miles, The Flaming Sideburns, White Hassle, and Railroad Jerk. In 2001 Matt recorded, produced and wrote for Andre Williams (2) album Bait And Switch. In 2005 Matt and Jon Spencer formed Heavy Trash, releasing their debut LP Heavy Trash on Yep Roc Records, along with a second LP Going Way Out With Heavy Trash in 2007 and third LP Midnight Soul Serenade in 2009. From 2010-2011, Matt recorded and/or produced The Dirtbombs, The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Dave "Baby" Cortez, Oblivians, Kid Congo Powers, Bloodshot Bill, The Strange Boys, and Melvin Van Peebles.
