Matthias Ambré

g, *1969 DE
Musician / Producer of Rock and Electronic

Matthias 'Matzé' Ambré is a well known musician and music producer. He plays the guitar and the piano and gained huge popularity with the albums and his studio and live guitar preformances for the gothic novel rock band ASP. Today, he works as an independant music producer in Frankfurt, where he has his own recording studio, and he is founding member of the band Die Kammer, for which he writes and produces the albums and plays the guitar and sings. Matzé started his musical career at the age of five, learning both the piano and the guitar. During and after his A-levels (1989) he started an education at the Dr. Hochs Konservatorium in Frankfurt am Main (1987-1992) on classical guitar, theory of harmony and aural theory for five years. He also started studying musicology at the Johann Wolfgang von Goethe Universität Frankfurt am Main for two years and made his Diploma in Engineering for Sound and Image Technology at the Robert-Schumann-Hochschule. Together with his friend Oliver Himmighoffen (Himmi) in 1988 he founded the German Punk-Rock band Gabi Mohnbrot, in which he also met Andreas Gross (Tossi). With his band he plays some gigs around Frankfurt and meets other bands of the area, one of them being the former band of Alexander F. Spreng (Asp). A friendship is formed and after dissolving his band, he and Asp, who also disbanded his former band spent much time in talking about future plans and ideas and after finding a lot of parallels in 1999 they both founded the Gothic Novel Rock band ASP, with which both will gain great attention. In 2000 he produces the first album of Marcus Testory's (Max) band Chamber (2), but as producing and playing for ASP took up too much time, for a long time this album should be the only one that Matzé produced. With gaining popularity of ASP and the need to give live concerts, Matzés friends and former band colleagues join ASP: Himmi already played the backing drums as guest musician on the first releases and joined the band with Tossi (bass guitar) in 2000; 2001 Max joined as backing choir, but left the Band again in 2004. After many years of friendship and great musical accomplishments, the friendship between Asp and Matzé started to crack at the end of 2010 and at the beginning of 2011 Asp announced, that Matzé will no longer be part of the Band ASP. Matzé then founded the recording studio Ashborn Sound Studio and after meeting with his old friend and former band colleague Max, who had similar bad experiences in his career, they both founded the Band Die Kammer in 2011. In early 2012 they release their first album together, which was created in Matzés studio and released under Max' Label Delicious Releases. After Himmi joining the band for their first live gig, he is thrown out of ASP and officially joins Matzés new band, which today (2014) has already seven members.
