Group African American doo - wop, was born on the ashes of the ' ' Gladiolas ' '. In 1959 , the members of this vocal group were : Maurice Williams (Lead Vocals ), Henry Gaston ( Tenor Vocals ), Wiley Bennett ( Second Tenor Vocals ), Charles Thomas ( Baritone Vocals ), Albert Hill ( Double Bass ) and Willie Morrow ( Drums ). They were active from 1959 to 1969.
