Jazz singer, born 1929 Apia, Western Samoa; died 1992 Los Angeles, California USA. Early professional career based in New Zealand; first recorded on the TANZA label and then on an early incarnation of the Zodiac label. Relocated to the United States in the 1950s. In the late 1950s to mid 1960s, she recorded major releases for Capitol Records, Reprise Records and Vee Jay Records, working with arrangers Marty Paich, Mel Tormé, Nelson Riddle and others. Mother of saxophonist / arranger / band leader Matt Catingub.
