Mavis Staples (born July 10, 1939, Chicago, Illinois, USA) is an American gospel, R&B and soul singer and civil rights activist. She has recorded and performed with her family's band The Staple Singers, and also as a solo artist. She is the daughter of Pops Staples and sister of Cleotha Staples, Pervis Staples and Yvonne Staples.
