In 1930's his success has faded due to the changing public taste (foxtrot and swing).
1933 - left Germany. Emigrated to Shanghai, China, where played several years at theater under direction by Alfred Dreyfus.
1945 - after disintegration of Shanghai theatre, Max Kuttner returned to Germany, established in Straubing, Niederbayern.
