Born 1941 in Wettingen, Switzerland, he studied music and musicology in Zurich, Basel and Cologne, and was music director of the Bavarian Radio and the Swiss Radio DRS. Since 1998 he has been working as a freelance journalist for the radio and press, with a focus on new music.
