Max Barthel

1893-1975 DE, Loschwitz

German poet and writer of choral works, born November 17th, 1893 in Loschwitz near Dresden; died June 17th, 1975 in Waldbröl near Olpe. In his early years, he was known as communist and social democratic author. In 1933 he switched his attitude and was an open follower of the national socialist idea of the German Nazis. After World War II, he started to write orchestral works without any political messages. For his work, he often used the aliases Konrad Uhle and Otto Laurin.
