A.k.a. Max Reinier Nijman
Surinam vocalist, born March 18, 1941 in Moengo. Also known as the "Soulman Number One". He has performed with the Mighty Sparrow, Wilson Pickett, Brook Benton, Johnny Nash and Ben E. King. Sparrow, who heard him singing when performing in Suriname, invited Max to come and perform in his Club on Trinidad & Tabago. Max Nijman recorded his first single with the band of Mighty Sparrow.on the Showtime label, NMS 102, Sranang / Endlesly, with Bert Innis & his Combo.
