In the 1920s, Oklahoma cowboy and ex-Roosevelt Rough Rider William M. "Billy" McGinty (1871 – 1961) was leader of the band which later became Otto Gray's Oklahoma Cowboys, the first nationally famous cowboy band (under the leadership of Otto Gray).
