Musician / Producer of World and Rock
Meir "Poogy" Fenigstein is an Israeli music, film and event producer. He is also an actor, drummer and occasionally a songwriter and singer. He is most famous in Israel for his work with Kaveret. His nickname, Poogy, was used as the main character in Danny Sanderson's rock opera, Poogy Tales. While the opera was abandoned it became the basis of the songs, comic skits, and stories from Kaveret's live shows and their debut album, Poogy Tales. Fenigstein played the character of Poogy on stage. The album is one of Israel's all time best sellers. After Kaveret broke up in 1976 Fenigstein worked as an actor in films as well as a session drummer. He moved to the United States in 1979 but returned to Israel for all of Kaveret's reunions and performed on the live albums drawn from concerts in 1984, 1998 and 2013. During his time in the United States he founded and served as Executive Director of the Israel Film Festival. He returned to Israel permanently in 2013.
