Mel Farr

A.k.a. Melvin Farr

Born on November 3rd 1944 in Beaumont, Texas (and died on Monday August 3rd, 2015), Mel Farr was a professional football player with the Detroit Lions from 1967 to 1973. Along with teammate and best friend Lem Barney (with whom he also shared the NFL's 'Rookie Of The Year' honors in 1967) he sang backing vocals on Marvin Gaye's 1971 album What's Going On.
