A.k.a. David Turner, Mike Warden
Melted Cassettes began in 2005 as a one man electronic-avante-garde/noise project started by D. Turner. It continued as such, gaining some popularity in the underground, until 2007 when M. Warden joined the project. This happened when Turner and Warden decided to make a collaboration album called ‘Now That’s What I Call Music Vol. 1′ and gave birth to the songs ‘Fantasy Garden’ and ‘Test’. The two soon began to simply work under the name ‘Melted Cassettes’ and made it official. Warden and Turner worked feverishly for several months, creating nearly 3 full albums worth of song material. By early 2008, Melted Cassettes began performing in Arizona on a fairly regular basis and continued to gain notoriety. The project went through a number of changes, including a revolving door of members, and changes in instrumentation. There were also a slew of rumors surrounding Melted Cassettes which permeated aspects of underground music fanfare. These rumors included false backgrounds, identities, and outlandish accusations of being ‘Notoriously misanthropic’, all of which was usually explained by the duo’s nature as being quiet, and somewhat isolated, and dedicated artists, often avoiding all the hullabaloo of local music-scene politics and instead focusing on a meaningful relationship between audience and artist. By 2009, Melted Cassettes had toured California several times, had a tape released on Modern Sleeze Records, and a design made for them by Canadian Art Designers ‘Seripop’. The band continued onward until a series of profound, and somewhat transcendental occurrences manifested in their lives around early 2010, which was followed by an inevitable hiatus. A few months later, Turner and Warden regrouped from their experiences, projecting the influences these encounters provided into the music of Melted Cassettes. The live performance aspect of Melted Cassettes centers around the odd events that took place in their lives, and is an attempt to inspire, creatively, and convey a message or aspect of some of the strange, paranormal, transformative and unexplained events that society sometimes overlooks. Melted Cassettes continues in its current lineup with a mission of music for positive personal/social transformation and collective conscious compassion and integration. Artist involved are David Turner (8) and Mike Warden.
