The real Melvin Belli was a high-profile American lawyer (1907-1996) who had worked with many celebrity clients. Using him as an alias for Santiago Durango in the credits for 'Songs About Fucking' was a typical Big Black in-joke, as Big Black were disbanding after this album principally because Durango was going to law school to train to be a lawyer.
