Composer
The Georgian composer Merab Partskhaladze was born on December 15, 1924 in Tbilisi and died on February 14, 2008. He was the son of the composer Alexei Partshaladze (1897-1972). In 1947-1950 he studied at the Conservatory of Tbilisi compositional class SV Barkhudaryan. In 1953, he graduated from the Moscow Conservatory in the composition class of Bogatyrev, in 1957. Among his works are the symphonic poem "Nestan" (the poem "The Knight with the skin of the panther" Shota Rustaveli, 1954), the orchestral suite "Painting on wood" (1978), "the paths of the taiga" ( 1986), "Farewell to Dersou" (1987); Concerto for Piano and Orchestra (1953); String Quartet (1951), Sonata for violin and fortepianono; Panduruli number 1 and number 2 (piano); as well as music for drama productions, cinema and for children (choruses, songs and instrumental pieces).
