A.k.a. Mercyless
Thrash / Death Metal band from France. Called MERCILESS from 1987 to 1991. They recorded their debut full-length, "Abject Offerings" under the MERCILESS name but due to the label's going bankrupt (Jungle Hop Records), it got delayed and rights got sold to Vinyl Solutions. That's when Euronymous of MAYHEM / Deathlike SIlence Productions heard of them and, even though older than their counterpart from Sweden, sent a threat fax message to the new label for MERCILESS to change their name because he already released Sweden's MERCILESS debut. France's MERCILESS consequently changed the spelling to MERCYLESS and, even though already promoted by former label Jungle Hop (with a different artwork) as a MERCILESS release before going bankrupt, "Abject Offerings" got released under the, new, MERCYLESS spelling.
