*1984
A.k.a. Lukhanyo Leon-Mark Mlandu
Born April 13th 1984 in Dimbaza, in South Africa's Eastern Cape then moved to Cape Town in 1990 and is a son of the Khayelitsha Township. Metabolism has been writing rhymes since 1996, his biggest challenge has been perfecting the art of syllable play within metaphors and creating humorous displays through his performances. The name Metabolism was adapted form a biology class and so the concept was taken and applied to the mental, breaking down concepts and projecting them to ears at a rapid rate. He has been through 4 crews like Skunk Squad in the mid 90's, which changed to Troop Fellowship. Metabs, as he is also known, was then involved in Nomadic lyricists, which gave birth to Platoon Dungeon Dwellas. He went solo in 2003, to establish himself as singular artist. 2005 was the start of a new era where he met up with Saturn and they worked hard on what became an E.P called Theatre Of Lyrical Ingenuity, which was an independent street release. He has also been involved with the likes of Konfab, Vernon Viscus and X-24th Letter as part of Writers Block, an urban crew that was formed in 2005. For the new project called “Beverages”, Metabs has concocted his own brew of Sip-hop, which is set to spill in 2009. The first draft of liquid gold for public consumption will be “The Sixpack” EP.
