Originally a drummer in a whole slew of NYC punk and rock bands around the mid 80s, Michael turned his attention to solo work. Really solo work. He worked out of a lo-fi basement studio and played all the instrumentation himself, producing a unique blend of experimental pop which he released through his label Semper Lo-Fi. His DIY approach has earned him a reputation as a "cassette culture casualty" though he recently employed collaborative techniques electronically through the Internet group Drone Forest. He now records with Orietta Chiusamonti in the experimental rock duo Stars & Butter.
