Nox Arcana and Michelle Belanger teamed up to create this album, which is based on the myth of Watcher Angels who abandoned Heaven for a taste of mortal love. Every song contains lyrics (a departure from other Nox Arcana albums which are predominantly instrumental) but still set against Nox Arcana's dark and ominous sound. Belanger exhibits an unusually expansive vocal range, from deeply mournful low chants to ethereal laments. She also performed as a guest vocalist on Winter's Knight.
