Operatic Soprano. She has appeared with the Cincinnati Opera, West Coast Opera, Kentucky Opera, Brevard Opera, and the Northern Kentucky Opera among other houses. She has performed extensively in the operetta and musical theater genres as well as on the concert stage with the Cincinnati Symphony, Asheville Symphony, Gettysburg Festival Orchestra, and the Slovak Radio Orchestra, among others. A specialist in contemporary music, Dr. Vought has lectured and performed at conferences throughout the USA, In Limerick, Ireland, and in Toronto and Newfoundland, Canada. In the fall of 2005 she produced the world premier of Nancy Van de Vate's one act opera Where the Cross is Made at Illinois State University, also creating the role of Sue Bartlett. She appears as a soloist on six Vienna Modern Masters compact discs. She is an Associate Professor of Voice and Director of Opera at Illinois State University and holds the Doctorate of Musical Arts in vocal performance from the College-Conservatory of Music of the University of Cincinnati. A cancer survivor, she is proud of her benefit concerts that have raised thousands of dollars for individual cancer patients.
