Microstar

Dance

Electronic music with a certain deep house dance appeal reminiscent of old school Chicago dance floor insanity is Microstar’s deep passion. Writing and producing dance music for nearly a decade, he has earned international respect for producing, writing and remixing nearly 100 exceptional dance music tracks. Hailing from Hamburg, Germany, one of electronic dance music (EDM) culture meccas, Microstar has quickly made a name for himself on a global scale by creating soulful, exquisitely deep and emotional dance tracks that pulse with life. Since René’s early youth, he has displayed an immediate knack for dance music that translated his love of Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk and good old underground house music into a production and DJ style noted for its soul and effortlessness. However, Microstar’s major discovery of dance music happened when he started frequenting techno parties. Watching the DJ’s inspired him to purchase his own turntables and start mixing live. He instantly had a talent for mixing tracks and as a result, landed his first gig within 3 months, playing a small local German club. He soon landed a residency as a label DJ and went on to perform in several big events with some of the most successful acts of the time, such as like Marusha, Timo Maas, Gary D, Hardsequencer (Hardy Hard, Berlin, Low Spirit Records) and the Fly (owner of the legendary Bonzai Record label in the Netherlands) and several other local heroes. After Years of Djing in Germany and over Europe, he exploded 2006 onto the scene with his debut artist EP album, Virtual Voltage, signed on Playloop records. Virtual Voltage is a 4-track collection of deep house tunes Since his first EP, Microstar’s music has been acknowledged by big dance music contemporaries as creating a positive deep house style that is supported by a broad cross-section of DJs, and he is regularly featured in the boxes of his own personal heroes like The Timewriter, Sunshine Jones, David Alvarado, King Britt, Mieka du Franx, Pete Gooding, Hed Khandi, and Nikola Gala. His tracks have been remixed by well-known artists like Soul T., The Messenger (of Plastic City), JP & Jones (founder of The Disclosure Project Recordings) and Alex Maragos (from Greece). 2007 was a tremendous year for Microstar’s recognition in the Industry - World Famous DJ David Alvarado (New York City) featured his track “Cross Roads” in his own mix compilation "Articulations" on Plastic City Records (licensed from Playloop). That same year, René had the privilege of traveling to the US and performing at Fluid Nightclub ( Home of Grandmaster Flash ), the legendary Ultra Bar in Washington D.C. and The Philadelphia Experiment (PEX) Heartburn Party. In 2009 King Britt, who finally owned the status of one of the most respected remixers and producers all over the World, picked up Microstar’s tracks “African Nights” and “Space Time” as integral units for his national and global DJ touring sets. Even broader appeal continued into 2010 for René with the legendary Sunshine Jones, (former member of the Dubtribe Sound System) who acclaimed his talent this way: “[p]eople like Microstar are really beautifully changing everything right now in electronic Music. I think that the complete reinvention of electronic music is wonderfully inspirational.” This statement exemplifies one of many reasons Sunshine included Microstar’s track “500 degrees” in his Shooting Stars Playlist, which he deems as the one of the 30 most beautiful tracks of 2009. Sunshine also featured three of Microstar’s tracks on his San Francisco radioshow, Sunday Soul. In December 2010, René released a full-length album, "Tanni’s Secrets" on famous Record Label Soul Industries. This Album is a 15-track collection incorporating a broad range of various EDM genres like tech house, deep house and chill out and shows one more Time, that He is more than just a fantastic Producer and DJ. Right now: Microstar is at the helm of his class, challenging himself to break from industry conceptions of what fits the mould - a big reason why several of René’s most esteemed mentors, like The Timewriter (One of the Top 5 Tech and Deep House producers/DJ’s around the Planet), have discovered his unique productions in an industry full of competition. Timewriter sought out and licensed Microstar’s track “Resized Life" on his own mix compilation Deep Train Vol. 7 (due out 2011). Speaking of 2011 – this year is already headed full of opportunities in Microstar’s future; everyone is banging down his door for remixes and he’s currently in the studio working on his second album, The Body Cocoon, which will be released on Playloop Records. Although the album will include several genres, the deep-house selections will also be featured on Playloop’s new deep-house compilation (due mid-year). He’s also got his hands on several new projects, properly aligning himself in the industry with a new EP on 7 Seas Recordings (released end of February 2011), and mid-year he will release his third EP on Disclosure Project Records. Microstar is an intense lover of electronic music with no restraints for reaching the fantasy world. He is an original, an innovator, and a ten-year veteran in the scene. His love of his craft shines through in his tracks and is a special “present” for all the daydreamers in the world like himself. His music is established on various fine Record Labels like Playloop Records, Plastic City, Soul Industries and Escada Music to name a few. the writing studio los angeles www.thewritingstudiola.com Written by: Jay Hill
