Album NL 2015 on esc.rec. label
Electronic, Folk, World and (Ambient, Folk, Field Recording)
Limited to 50 copies. You Better Go Now was written, recorded and mixed at home over a period of five years, using an acoustic guitar, a Casio keyboard, a banjitar, a snare drum, maracas, pots and pans, a Juno synthesizer and numerous other sounds and instruments, all processed through uniformed misuse of Logic Pro. The Microphones contains samples of Jesu Rato La Hao and Izivungivungu by the ZCC Female Choir. Seamus contains samples of Early Riser by Seamus Cater & Viljam Nybacka and I Love Paula by Yael Bat-Shimon and an untraceable Indian pop song. Salt Lake contains a sample of a misplaced 7" by an unknown boy singer. Silly contains portions of The Little Shoemaker by Rosemary Clooney with Buddy Cole and His Orchestra; My Friend by Frankie Laine with Paul Weston and His Orchestra; Cinnamon Sinner by Tony Bennett with Percy Faith and His Orchestra; Thank You For Calling by Jo Stafford with Paul Weston and His Orchestra and I Understood Just How You Feel by Sandy Steward. The end of the song contains a fragment of an interview with Graham Chapman from 1980 by Michael Parkinson. Hangman is based on a traditional song that is also known under the titles of The Hanging Tree, The Maid Freed From The Gallows, The Gallis Pole and The Prickly Bush. I based my version on Ryland Bouchard's, which can be found on his record Hope Rides Alone. The title You Better Go Now is taken from the jazz standard written by Irvin Graham and S. Bickley Reichner, made famous by Billy Holiday. The subsequent line of the song "...because I like you much too much", is the secret second half of the record title. Packaging: Handmade cardboard sleeve with a 6-panel fold-out booklet. Track durations appear slightly different on the release. These track durations are taking from Bandcamp.
