Miel Van Attenhoven was born on June 22, 1944 in Scherpenheuvel-Zichem, Flanders, Belgium. He died on April 2, 2008. Van Attenhoven was the founder of the jazz department of the Belgian broadcasting company VRT and producer of the program "In de club". Since 1991 he has also coordinated the Jazz Middelheim festival.
