A.k.a. Miguel Soares

Based in Lisbon, Miguel Soares is one of the leading digital artists of the new generation in Portugal and has been experimenting with sound composition since 2000. Under his alter ego MIGSO, Soares composes electronic music which he integrates in his 3D animations and releases as audio CD's in the record label Variz. Many of his videos are made for - and in collaboration with - music groups like Negativland (2003), Sack & Blumm (2000) and Roberto Musci & Giovanni Venosta (2001). Experimentalist Migso encompasses a narrative journey layered with celestial melodies and sensuous synth lines that fall into deep hypnotic patterns. Like in most Portuguese art there's a poetic aura around his digital compositions and conceptual projects. With a bleep and beep here and a crackle there you will always find Migso's work moving in capricious ways, as it catches you by surprise again and again.
