Romanian artist, composer, singer, born 1965, November Owner of Motz Art Studio (called sometime as Studioul Mihai Alexandru) Mihai’s musical debut happened at age of 18 with the Sui Generis group, then, at 20 he became a member of the Iris (16) band, with whom he recorded two albums, three of the tracks composed by him: Frumusetea ta (Your beauty), Ploaia de vise (Rain of dreams), Ultima toamnă (Last Fall). After his spectacular success as a guitar player of the Iris (16) band, his talent as composer started to reborn and in 1989, meeting Nicola (5), he launches her in the music world, writing for her songs that shortly become hits in the 90’s and 2000. These hits were included on the five successful albums they recorded together: Cu tălpile goale – 1999 (With bare feet), Milioane – 2000 (Millions), Lângă mine – 2002 (Next to me), Don’t break my heart – 2003, Dincolo de noapte e zi – 2003 (Beyond night is day), Iti multumesc – 2004 (Thank you), Honey -2005, De mă vei chema – 2005 (If you’ ll call me). Ten times in the Eurovision national finals, first in 1992 with Nicola (5) and the song Ballerina, then with the songs Doar amintiri – 1994 (Only memories), Undeva departe – 1996 (Somewhere far away), I feel good – 1999, I do in 2002, he wins the national contest in 2003 with the song Don’t break my heart performed by Nicola (5) and went representing Romania at Eurovision Contest in Riga – Latvia, ranking 10. An interesting fact is that turkish Sertab, who won the Eurovision that year, said at her press conference, three days before the final, that she likes Romania’s song and, instead of singing her own song in front of the journalists as it is customed, she sang Mihai Alexandru’s composition. Other national selections brought significant accomplishments for Mihai: 3rd Place with the song “Brand New Feeling – 2006 co-starring Mark Pfeling (Belgium), songwriter Jamie Winchester (Ireland) and singer Dora, 6th Place with “Prea mici sunt cuvintele” (Words are too small) – Pacifica and Leo Iorga and 9th Place with “Baby” – Alexa in September 2010. Prizes at Mamaia Festival: First Prize in 2001 with “Întinde mâna” (Stretch out your hand) sung by No Name, in 2002 the Second Prize with “Lângă mine” (Close to me) – singer Nicola (5), 2006 Second Prize with “Acolo unde ştii” (There where you know)” – Proconsul, 2007 Second Prize with the song “Cum te pot iubi” (How can I love you) sang by Bogdan Dima and the First Prize in 2008 with “Dă-mi o bere” (Gimme a beer), soloist Mihai Alexandru and 1-Q Sapro. Many awards (including the trophy) obtained by foreign artists at the “Golden Stag” Festival were won singing Mihai Alexandru’s songs. In the same festival, in 1997, Christina Aguilera representing U.S. at only 15, chose to sing one of his songs. Mihai Alexandru and his songs has been ranked many times the first position in Top 100 Romania. Very often he can be seen in Juries of the most important festivals such as Eurovision, Mamaia, Golden Stag, etc. Over time, Mihai Alexandru collaborated as composer with almost all romanian singers of the past and new generation such as Nicola (5), Laura Stoica, , Marcel Pavel, Marina Florea, Daniela Vladescu, Aurelian Temisan, Mihai Constantinescu, Adrian Daminescu, Carmen Trandafir, Mihaela Mihai, , Corina Chiriac, Doina Spătaru, Nico (13), Akon, Alina Sorescu, Raluca Ocneanu, Bogdan Dima, Alin Pascal Alexa and groups Iris (16), Proconsul, Leo Iorga and Pacifica, Body & Soul, No Comment (10), No Name, Blondy, Morometzii. The collaboration with 1-Q Sapro goes back in time, but in summer 2008, this friendship finds concrete shapes and officially launches on the Mamaia Festival with the song “Dă-mi o bere” . His studies are: Enescu Music Highschool – cello section and then the National University of Music – Music Education Department, in the same time attending the Orchestra Conducting Courses (Professor Petre Andriesei) and singing courses (Prof. Daniela Sluşanschi). There are so many radio and tv-shows he attended as an artist, songwriter or music producer, that we lost count.
