✰ 1927, Abrud, România ✞ February 24, 2005, Germany Romanian saxophonist, clarinetis better known as Miky Ampoitan, emigrated and settled at the end of 1970's to Germany. From 1944 to 1948 he studied at the conservatory in Cluj. Became known in Romania as a member of various orchestras and especially as first clarinetist and saxophonist of the romaninan state radio and television bigband At the end of 1970' his first wife died, and left România to Germany, having a contract with local band of Überlingen city, little town near Lake Constance (Bodensee), where he settled. Athe beginning of 1980's, he became Kapellmeister and Director of Music School. 1997 - retired and continued his instrumentist career in jazz band "Jailhouse Jazzmen" . He toured with the "Jailhouse Jazzmen" at New Orleans, US, where he was appointed along with other band members an honorary citizen. Died at 78 years in the early hours of Thursday, February 24, surprisingly and immediately after returning from a stay of several months in Kenya. The funeral takes place Wednesday, March 2, 14 clock, in the Überlinger cemetery.
