Musician / Arranger of Jazz
Jazz and easy listening saxophonist/flautist and arranger. Born in Texas (1916), he later became a Chicagoan a large part of his musical career. He played with Doc Ross' and Art Kassell's bands, studied with Leo Sowerby and Joseph Schillinger, and subsequently played with Gene Krupa, Jimmy McPartland, and Jack Teagarden. After serving in the Navy during World War II he was a staff musician at the CBS outlet in Chicago while arranging for Ralph Marterie, nightclub and stage show productions and jingle work.
