In 1997, Stockton born, Jamaal Smith, A.K.A. Diz and Los Angeles born Donald Silas, A.K.A. Deviuz met in an Oakland recording studio. Shortly after the initial meeting, the two of them formed the “Militia”. Soon, the duo hooked up with producer Emanuel Dean and recorded the hit song “Burn”. After recording a few other songs they submitted the songs to the executives at Red Ant Records and signed a recording deal. After signing the deal with Red Ant Records, Diz and Deviuz came to Los Angeles to complete the album at Entourage Studios. While in the studio they met up with the PhatPack, Olan Thompson, A.K.A. “Mr. Tan” and Toi Kion Parham, A.K.A. “Ms. Toi”, and found that the chemistry between them was the same. Due to their similar objectives they all envisioned a powerful new sound and look if they came together to form a single group. Because of this uniqueness, the group decided to increase the ranks and band together as one unit. Meanwhile another Red Ant recording artist from Detroit, Michigan, “Lord G” was in the same studio working on his solo project. “Lord G” made his debut on the Death Row “Above the Rim” Soundtrack with the track “My money right”. After the group kicked it in the studio together they decided to complete the squad by adding “Lord G” to their ranks. They felt that with the addition of “Lord G”, they would have the universal sound that they desired. Proving you don’t have to be from the same place to have the same destination, these rap soldiers connected as one unit. Three different forces came together to make a greater “Militia”.
