A.k.a. Irving Milton Adolphus
Milton Adolphus (1913–1988) was an American composer and pianist, one of the founding members of the American Composers Alliance, and the director of the Philadelphia Music Center. He graduated from the Yale University and moved to Philadelphia in 1935 to study composition with Rosario Scalero. In the twenties and early thirties, Adolphus had been playing with multiple jazz bands and variety orchestras in NYC and Catskill Mountains. He also collaborated with Glen Gray & The Casa Loma Orchestra and arranged their theme song Smoke Rings. Milton Adolphus composed over 200 orchestral, vocal and chamber works, including 13 symphonies and 35 string quartets.
