Mimiyo Tomozawa’s work is regularly featured in Japanese underground comics and magazines. Among her creations is the psychedelic ‘Kinoko Ryokou’ ('Mushroom Travel’). She is also known for illustrating two Jim O'Rourke album sleeves (Eureka and Insignificance). In 1990, Mimiyo Tomozawa and Missa Fukuma formed a Spacy Folk group called RISU. Tomozawa Mimiyo is active internationally. Her first manga was published in Garo in 1992. She lived in Paris between 1999 and 2004, where she participated in the Franco-Japanese artist group “Atelier Dokidoki.” In 2001, she co-authored a children’s book, published by the Centre Pompidou, titled Viens chez moi! Since, she has exhibited in group shows in New York and Tokyo while continuing to produce manga in her signature style of mythical and near-occultist themes acted out by cute, spherical fatties.
