MingHuan Xu is an American-Chinese violinist, wife of the pianist Winston Choï, and a member of Chicago-based Ensemble Dal Niente. A multi-faceted and skilled performer, she has been touring internationally as a concerto soloist, duo-recitalist, and a chamber musician. Ms. Xu plays 1758 Nicolas Gagliano violin. Xu appeared on stage with a few prominent chamber and new music performers, such as Colin Carr, Eugene Drucker, Ilya Kaler, Annie Kavafian, The Pacific String Quartet, St. Petersburg String Quartet, Eighth Blackbird, and The Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble. She was a featured soloist with the City Of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, The Peninsula Festival Orchestra, The Richmond Symphony, Midland-Odessa Symphony Orchestra, Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra, Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra, the Wintergreen Festival Orchestra and many other large ensembles around the United States. MingHuan Xu also participated in the CSO's MusicNOW series. As an acclaimed interpreter of contemporary music, Xu worked closely with William Bolcom, John Corigliano, Gunther Schuller, and Bright Sheng on performances of their music. The artist also commissioned over forty works by Marcos Balter, Burton Beerman, George Flynn, M. William Karlins, Felipe Lara, Jacques Lenot, John Melby, Robert Morris (3), Daniel Weymouth, Jay Alan Yim, Huang Ruo, and other notable composers.
